Directories are so popular because they’re truly easy to use. Nevertheless, here are a few tips to help you with them:
• Think of directories as a giant bookmark list. Click at will!
• Even if a directory has a search box, try to click on the subject links and search for information.
Sometimes directory search engines aren’t nearly as good as their subject links. Don’t be afraid to explore “out of category.” For example, if you’re researching foreign statistics and trends, don’t just click on a Foreign Statistics subject link. Also take a look at general statistical trends, and maybe even explore general reading sources. In a directory, you never know what treasure may have been put in an odd category.
