On one of my daughter’s field trips, they went aboard a very large boat that researchers use to study and observe marine life.  There were various gadgets and instruments, tracking devices that we only see at Discovery channel and National Geographic, seeing those instruments were really a great experience for my daughter.

A tour guide was briefly explaining each function of the various instruments and gadgets aboard the boat, however he also emphasized that these instruments and gadgets are not the only important equipment in a boat, it is also crucial that the basic boating supplies are checked as well. He further explained that Boat Supplies such as boat ladders, life vests, tow boats, compasses, boat lights, anchors and the like, should also be checked before sailing out to sea or  any body of water. These basic Boating Supplies are essential in preventing trouble and getting out of trouble.  He also showed the children the Bilge Pumps installed in lowest part of the boat, this he said is important in keeping bilge water out, and by keeping bilge water out, it can save lives and also the expensive instruments aboard the boat.  After the boat tour, the children were allowed to see a few sample of marine life the researchers were studying.
